Corinth is the gateway to the Peloponnese, and is an easy 2-3 hrs drive from Athens. Sadly, this modern town is not as impressive as the ancient town of Corinth. Why? History has made out Ancient Corinth to be in full splendour and glory and what you now see, is the ruins of the ancient city. Nevertheless, the hospitality of the Corinthians overcomes that void. Interestingly, the modern town of Corinth came into existence sometime around the 1830s, after an earthquake devastated the settlement right up to 1980s. Hence, all around what you see is a small township with ruins and friendly Greeks.
This biblical town was visited by Apostle Paul and mentioned in the Book of New Testament.
Not to be missed in the Corinth Canal, a sight worth a photo stop. [edit text][editors]
