The tower currently leans at 5.6 degrees. Another 1.4 degrees will be enough to bring 14,000 tons of intricately carved white marble crashing to the ground. This won't happen for another 100 years or so.

Gurney, amoungst the best images of that tower. The archway gives one a good/better reference to the amount of lean. [4.5]

Thank you very much for the feedback Rangutan. The other tourists kept trying to wave me through the archway so I could get a better close-up of the tower...I'm glad to have not "gone with the flow" this time.

It's a 5* photo but I could never say that of the subject. There was a tower. It was meant to be straight. It had a fault so it started to lean. As such it was interesting - I enjoyed going to the top in 1976. Then it leaned more and became unsafe.
At this point there were two architecturally sane courses of action - to destroy it or straighten it. So what did they do? Neither - they restored it to an acceptable degree of tilt for a tourist atraction that had lost its historical interest.

A wonderful view of this famous monument and the first I seen from this angle. Nice job.

Great framing and not the "average" leaning tower photo. Almost like seeing it for the first time!

Well done. Superb clarity.
