Hanoi - Vietnam, Hà Nºi The Old Quarter in Hanoi was truly wondrous. I was captured by the hum of a vibrant city. The cafes were great, as too the food - the price for a classy dinner, in a beautiful French styled restaurant was excellent. I could return to this microcosm of energy over and over. Some people have found the Vietnamese a bit 'cool', but my experience was quite the opposite. No doubt one could explore some parts of this city in a week of less, but I recommend patience - take time to invest in the people, the culture and the shops. Simplicity is very much a part of everyday life - people eating their meals on the street, cooking, chatting ... very alive.
