Hotel Lohmod
It appears as two hotels have been merged and the renovation is nearly completed. When it is completed it should be a nice basic hotel. It is located only about 10 minutes from the airport (actually at the bottom of the runway) and just up the road from the Raddison. The rooms were clear and had a fresh fell (owing to the renovation) The shower is a wet room which is a bit unusaly for a hotel. more
Shipra Mall
A huge shopping mall, just off the road midway between Noida and Gaziabad. Restaurants, clothes, groceries.. all in one! Great hang out for the youth too. more
Indover Tours
Indover planned a private tour for us, using a single driver for 12 consecutive days, and then a second one for several more days when we went to another state, and selecting fantastic hotels (mostly Heritage properties) and guides throughout our trip. We had a fantastic driver (Mr. Sham) who pulled over for all kinds for photo taking - he knew we liked animals so every monkey and camel presented an opportunity. We had terrific guides and everything was handled very professionally. The trip was beyond our every expection! Private Driver is absolutely the way to go! more
Zen
I spent €34 on dinner (including a few drinks) in this fabulous Chinese/Thai/Japanese restaurant! Everything was so delicious that I could not resist ordering six dishes, to the great amusement and bewilderedness of the efficient and professional personnel. I was in heaven, so the the name of the restaurant was more than adequate. more
Hotel Fifty Five
Not the best hotel around, but centrally located on the border between Delhi and New Delhi, well at least nearly there. The metro station was right at the Connaught circle and the train station was 5 minutes walk away. At €37 it wasn't the greatest value for money (1,912 ruppes) but it terrace was fine (if small and noisy) for evening beers.
I stayed in room 205, which was small but adequate. The bathroom was so so and the cleanliness was just about right... more
Chicken Inn
When the Revolver restaurant of Delhi is closed, around midnight, people then go to this restaurant that is open until 3 AM.
It is very convenient for the travellers landing hungry in Delhi airport at midnight.
Food is wonderful! more

The battle of Kurukshetra
If you love India and its philosophy you should not miss Kurukshetra, where took place the famous battle, theme of the epic poem of the Bhagavad Gita, written by the rishi Veda Vyasa.
It s located in Haryana, and you can stop there in your journey from Delhi to Pakistan or vice versa.
I reached Kurukshetra by train and asked the sadhus for the place of the battle. They sent me to Jyotisar, about 7 kilometres further. I walked there and stayed three days and nights with the sadhus in an ashram with a pool. I was one more of them. Everyday the faithful Hindus brought us food and sweets as prasaad for the pujas.
According to my sadhus friends, a sacred banyan tree that was standing in the ashram was eternal, and the only surviving witness of the battle of Kurukshetra between the kauravas and pandavas, that lasted 18 days, like the chapters of the holy book.
Jyotisar is for the Hindus as Jerusalem is for the Christians, Mecca for the Muslims or Etchmiadzine for the Armenians. more

Pindi
Very popular restaurant. It is one of the places that the drivers of the tourist cars take there passengers! I had to wait for a table and then had to share with another solo traveller. The food was tasty and the portions good. Not the cheapest place by Indian standards but still VFM. My meal came to a grand total of 280 rupees.
ISIC discount of 10% for card holders. more
Wongdhen House
Small Tibetan Restuarant in the midst of the confusing passageways of the new Tibetan Colony. I was taken there by a Tibetan friend! I had momos and tingmo (a kind of Tibetan bread) with some kind of spicy vegetables. For 2 people, including a drink, it cost a grand total of 183 rupees!
Apparently there is a hotel attached to this place too. more
