New Delhi travel tips

Rajasthan
"The population of the world is divided into two categories. Those who have seen the Taj Mahal, and the others”. The North India Tour of Delhi, Jaipur & Agra is one of the most itineraries in North India. Specially Americans, diplomats, business people, delegates, corporate who come to India, always love to make this short trip for few days. It might not be justifiable to say that Golden Triangle can in anyway become a show piece of what India has. more

Rahul Palace
Not the best area in Delhi, but it was a clean hotel, for just one night it wasn't too bad. Fairly reasonably priced. more

Kamal Tour
I promised Kamal I would mention him, he provides a nice tour service in doing the Golden Triangle or a tour of Rajastan. He speak good English and a very funny many; he's also very knowledgable of India. He runs a classic DeLuxe Ambassador. There were more comfortable vehicles available but for some reason I wanted a bit of old charm... more

The Connaught
This hotel is in the centre of New Delhi, just off Connaught Place. It is a 4* and the survice is really good. As food is cheap in India most hotels breakfast is included, which is really nice predominantly buffet but you can also order. The rooms are nice. more

Hotel Ashu Palace
A very basic hotel, but I found it was clean with friendly staff. I was a little surprised with the Indian breakfast - but it was nice if not a little spicy. Karol Bagh is one of the New Delhi areas and it has quite a few budget hotels. But the area needs development. more

Cafe Turtle
full color place, nice pastry and cakes. great big window :) and somehow... mostly couples area. hmmph. haha. the cafe situated upfloor from 'full circle' bookshop. more

Oberoi New Delhi
the place is one of the most expensive hotel in delhi. yet, it's more of a businesss place. quite stiff... although the room is quite great. i just wished it's a bit larger. but... love the sleeps i had there. although... for the price... i would want more variety on the food for breakfast. they never change the menu... and not too many choices either. more

Lotus temple
This stunning temple has become another symbol of New Delhi. It is one of the seven Bahai temples scattered around the world (the other six being located in Uganda, Germany, Western Samoa, Panama, Australia and USA), but, in my opinion (and I have visited all of them because they offer free accommodation and food for travellers), this one in Delhi is the most aesthetic of all. It has the form of a lotus with nine leaves made on white marble (somehow its form reminded me the Opera House, in Sydney). Every leaf represents one of the nine religions in the world, according to the Bahai criteria. The entrance is free. You have to take your shoes off and soon a member of this relatively new religion (XIX century) will enter into conversation with you and will show you around. The part dedicated to the history of this faith is very instructive, as well as the pictures showing how the construction started. more

Rushour
Serves mostly European food from INR30 to INR150.One of the best place to eat in CP. more
