Chennai, formerly known as Madras, is the capital of Tamil Nadu. It was once a small fishing village named ChennaiPatnam, that was leased by the Britsh East India company from the Vijayanagar empire.
Primarily a trading center for cloth and spices, this town was the administrative capital of the British empire in India.
Apart from the stronghold in auto and IT industries, this city boasts of the inherent culture and tradition. The orthodox and piously religious communities can be seen around triplicane and several other areas in this city.
