The Office
This one of a few pubs and cafes in Senggigi centre right at the beach. Its location is one of the qualities! It is laid back and resembles a backpacker place. The prices of the drinks ($5) and bar menu definitely don't make it a cheap place, but their quality is brilliant. Yeah! One of my favourite places in town. more
Naga
A wonderful restaurant, part of the Graha Senggigi Resort, but open for all, which is very proud of its long, long menu with main dishes around $5. Everything I tried was exceptionally good and the portions were huge. So although the prices place it at the mid-range but the volume you get makes it eventually budget, as three people would get full on one plate of shrimps in spicy curry sauce and rice.
I ate there twice for brunch. I was the only customer there, but the kitchen was very happy to cook for me. more

Graha Senggigi
The hotel is split. The main road runs through it. The part at the beach offers accommodation in traditional Lombok villas and this is where the beach restaurant is - overlooking the beach, nice place for breakfast. The part at the other side of the road had a jolly good restaurant and magical swimming pool and rooms arranged around it. This is where the main reception was as well.
The price of $36 for the room in the villa overlooking the beach garden was an excellent value. The room was clean, bathroom had hot water and air-conditioning worked efficiently. more

Alang-Alang Boutique Beach Resort
If you don't have a budget & are looking for a romantic hideaway you can't go past this little place. About 6km's out of Senggigi located on Mangsit Beach the villas are all beautifully furnished with open air bathrooms. We actually had the suite with it's own terrace and poolside so we could watch the sun go down over Bali.
Dreamy...
The restaurant is one of the best on Lombok. You can sit on the restaurant proper or on the beach with your feet in the sand. Our meals were really good including my favourite Balinese crispy Duck. more

Marina
The Marina bar, which came recommended by some of the locals, who apparently knew me was seriously terrible. It was a weird combination of a gay bar, prostitutes house and meat market (pick-up joint). I stayed there for one drink only. My choice was mojito but I am pretty sure that it was a virgin mojito, which did not contain its main ingredient - rum. I had to ask the bartender to check it for me. He did try it and had no choice but to agree with me. Allegedly he put some rum subsequently, however I had to ask him to sell me another shot of rum. And not at $10 a drink!
Seedy and terrible place. I'd avoid it, unless one has a different purpose... more

Papaya Cafe
I went to the Papaya Cafe twice. The second night, I solidified my opinion that the bands playing live there have either excellent players or some phenomenal singers. Even before I downed a few Chill Out Baby’s drinks (based on coconut liqueur), I managed to appreciate the quality. The blues and rock’n’roll night was particularly good for vocals. A lady, larger than life, could sing anything - all sitting on a stool. I was genuinely impressed. And I am not easily impressed.
Almost all the waiting staff and the bartenders at Papaya were very friendly. One of the guys was definitely too friendly, but I think I managed to manage him. They all
obviously knew my name and did introduce themselves to me, but I never remembered their names.
Drinks coming at about $5 were not cheap, but all were superb. The decor of the places was also very nice with excellent ideas how to present the Lombok masks. more

Mario's
The seafood dishes at $5 were phenomenal. Mario's knows what sells well. The chef there must have been a magician. I tried a few dishes and all of them were perfect. The seafood was definitely fresh (and I grew up at the seaside, so I know what's fresh...) and spiced up to perfection. And the personnel was so friendly and beer so delightfully chilled. more
Bumbu
A delightful place along the main road in the centre of Senggigi. The menu is long, I mean comprehensive and the seafood is great. The chef does not spare spices so everything tastes wonderful and the beer is always cold. At the prices around $3 for a main dish is heaven. There are many restaurants in the same stretch of the road, but this one stands out in terms of quality! more
