Travel guide to Milazzo

Milazzo Cape

Milazzo, in northern Sicily, is probably best known as the nearest port for the Aeolian Islands with frequent ships and aliscafi [hydrofoils] going from the quay. Certainly this explains the high number of hotels.
However the town has some appeal in its own right. Apparently there is some pretty nasty industrial smoke and smell at times and it’s more popular with Italians than with foreigners. Perhaps the situation is worse in summer but there was no problem in February.
There are two major attractions and it’s certainly cheaper to stay here than many places in Sicily. The two are the beaches along the Cape behind the town and the citadel. The latter is said to be as god as any in Sicily and it’s certainly massive, most of its present attributes being derived from the Spanish. [edit text] [editors]
