Chiba-shi (Chiba City) is probably considered by most as a suburb of Tokyo at best. It is the gateway to the Boso peninsula that is south and east of Tokyo. From Chiba City, you can head south and enjoy surfing, beaches, gigantic statues of Buddha, samurai castles, you name it.
