Gyumri - Armenia, Gyumri This is a lovely place to visit. It is an old house where Mercurov lived transformed in a museum (with a benevolent ghost in the mirror included!). There is even a wonderful restaurant in the ground floor. Staffs are most helpful. Mercurov was an artist who studied in Auguste Rodin studio in Paris, and he met Lenin in Western Europe. Back in Russia he became director of the famous Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, in Moscow. The statue on the left is a Merkurov work of art, but his specialities were post-mortem masks. His cousin, also born in today Gyumri, was a philosopher very well known in Europe and USA, called Gurdjieff.
