It's so easy to feel at home

  9 votes

Neu-Ulm is set on the banks of the river Dunube on the Bavarian side. If you cross the river you'll come to Ulm, which is somewhat bigger. When talking about Neu-Ulm it's hard to leave Ulm out, so this report will be a bit about both towns. Neu-Ulm is small, green and cozy. Public transport is good, but you can walk pretty much everywhere.

Favourite spots:
Ulmer church: Located on the town square of Ulm and has the tallest church-tower in Europe which you can climp against a small fee. Sauschdall: Nice student cafe located in an old castle with a dancefloor and cheap drinks. Often live music.

What's really great:
Neu-Ulm is small and relaxed. Licenceplates are funny. In Germany the plates starts with the letters of the town, which results in plates such as: NUKE and NUDE. Amusing. The people are friendly, and I just loved it there.

Oh yeah, try hanging out a whole night or more in a Biergarten. Super cosy, very good food and of course, lots of beer.

Sights:
Oath Monday: Every july Ulm celebrates it's birthday. On this day there's a big parade on the river (Nabada). Really worth watching!

If you are in Bavaria, I recommend you take a day-trip to visit some of the old fantasy-castles built by the 'fairytale prince.

Accommodations:
There are a lot of options. From a youth-hostel to a 5***** hotel. You choose. For more info go to: http://www.tourismus.ulm.de
