The city of Bilbao in the Basque Country (Euskadi) is one of the most prosperous towns of the nation. Its architecture is unique. The old town is packed with grand mansions and old buildings with their distinctive balconies and window shutters. There are grand cathedrals and a very lovely square. The banks of the river combine old medieval and Renaissance facades with pioneering modern architecture, one of a kind. It is also a city full of fun and partying. On one street there are clubs frequented by barely legal teenagers, lounges for twentysomethings and tapas bars open very late frequented by everyone.
