The capital of Puerto Rico was an unplanned destination. Originally, my itinerary included the city only for a plane change over. However, on the airplane I saw some pictures of Puerto Rico and almost in an instant I decided to stay at least for one night. It was a good decision. The old town, listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site, was remarkable. The forts in the northern part of the old town and the mighty city walls surrounding the historic centre full of colourful Hispanic 18th century mansions, churches, plazas and cobble stone narrow alleys, took my breath away.
