I could not wait to go to Sierra Leone after seeing the film Blood Diamond. There was little information about the country in the general travel literature, although I heard about the charter flights to Freetown from England. That intrigued me. I asked a few friends from The Gambia, and they were not entire sure whether the was over and if it was safe to go. After more thorough investigation, I was certain it was good. So, when bmi announced their scheduled flights, I got myself a ticket.
