Poppy Garden - Travel tip by fieryfox

Member opinion: The Poppy Garden specialises in Indonesian, Malay and Thai cuisine. The decor is of a mixture of Zen and the Tropics, dimly lit but adds to a nice ambiance to the whole setting. There are live performances of gamelan, tabla and angklung during the evenings making it a refreshing experience.

From the menu, the Poppy Platter (RM28), sun-dried beef, fish cakes, egg spring roll, sugarcane prawns, Vietnamese rolls and dips, should get your appetite rolling, with the beef a particular standout. The hor mok maprow (RM18) and Thai otak otak steamed in young coconut are very tasty with large chunks of seafood.

The Poppy kueh (Malay Traditional Cakes) selection (RM3) or kao meaw mamoung (mango and sticky rice, RM6) are lovely, but opt for the lighter Jewel in the Garden (RM4) instead. It is the perfect way to end a warm night.
