It is relatively small site yet hosting three great temples with gorgeous columns, and a Byzantine fort. There are also large slabs of marble lying around. Obviously, the majority of Apollonia is yet to be excavated, and large proportion lied underneath the sea, as the effect of the famous earthquake of the of 365. Until the excavation happens, the site appears poor in comparison with other ancient sites along the Mediterranean coast. Although the tall and straight standing columns impress and allow the mind to begin imagining how great those temples must have been. The temples are spread for about one mile, so Apollonia must have been an important city. It is such a pity that the ancient port has never been excavated from the sea, where all of it is – submerged and invisible. [edit text][editors]
