Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands. They are situated off the west coast of Africa, but they belong to Spain. Lanzarote is one of the islands, and it is of volcanic origin. There is a huge national park with lots of active and inactive volcanoes, called Timanfaya. The island is very small and can easily be visited by car. The villages are very pintoresque.
