Altea a wonderful village on the Costa Blanca

There is hardly any place you can better describe than the place where you live. Only seven km. from horrendous Benidorm and about 40 km north of Alicante lies Altea, a lovely fishing village not destroyed by skyscrapers, because local law forbids building more than six plants. Because there are only a few hotels Altea has kept clear of the mass tourism on the Costa Blanca. During the summer month every night on the small cozy plaza in the old centre there is a (original) handicraft market . All around the plaza are different bars and restaurants, from where you have a wonderful view of the Med, because the plaza is situated at the highest point of the village. Every Tuesday there is a market on the sea boulevard. For those who like theme parks at about 10 km. there is Terra Mitica. In Callosa, about 15 km. distance there are the Algar spring with a small waterfall. Continue another 15 km. and You'll come to Guadalest, an entire village built on top of a cliff.

The old centre (Casco Urbano) with its cozy bars and restaurants. The Campomanes marina with good but somewhat expensive bars and restaurants. The sea boulevard with all its pavement terraces. Altea la Vieja (3 km) with its chiringuitos (simple restaurants on the beach.

Although situated in one of the most visited tourist's centres of Spain, Altea has kept it original atmosphere.

Accommodations:
Hotel Altaya, recently complete renewed.
Hotel San Miguel, simple, cheap and with a wonderful big terrace with sea view and the best chicken in the region.
Hotel Cap Negret, the biggest but not very cozy hotel.
For renting appartments contact Multiservice on the boulevard.

Hangouts:
At the plaza in the casco antiguo.
On the boulevard Playa Altea, El Cafe, Opera, San San and many more.

Restaurants:
On the boulevard: El Patio, La Caldera, Casa del Jamon and for the best tapas (typical spanish snacks) Xeito
In the casco antiguo: Meson de Altea, Ousto, Pero Negro
