Khon Kaen - off the tourist path!

This seems to be off the regular tourist track. It is a good place to explore the Isan culture - language, food and music. It is a rural province where the main occupations are farming and textiles. A university city - Khon Kaen University.

Favourite spots:
There is really only one main tourist attraction in the city which is the KHon Kaen National Museum.

What's really great:
I liked being off the usual tourist route. I was fortunate enough to stay with Thai and Korean friends who were studying in the city.

Restaurants:
Loys of cheap and tasty food especially around the University. Night market with food stalls next to the air-con bus terminal
