Venezuela is a beautiful country full of diverse people, cultures and landscape. You can travel to the dense city of Caracus where the population is 10 million or you can find your way to a small island off the coast.

My favorite spots would be in the poor regions on caracas called the barrios. Many of the local middle class citizens would never visit such a place, but once you step into this different world, you will see a different type of beauty that inhibits a richness money cannot buy.

| What's really great: |
It is amazing to me the variety of landscapes which Venezuela holds. There are mountains reaching an elevation of 12,000 feet. Venezuela is also the home of the largest waterfall in the world. It is called Angel Falls. It is located deep in the jungle.

I personally stayed in Venezuela for free with my cousin in a church. My suggestion would be to leave the big city and head for the beaches where you can find decently priced hotels.

As a travelling vegetarian, I could always count on the largest avocados, some tortillas, beans and rice.
