I live just outside NYC in New Jersey

Full of culture and interest. tough to visit with the twin towers gone. I looked at them from my college dorm window for four years. It's hard to explain something that big just not there anymore

Favourite spots:
any subway watching people, Battery park, kayak rentals on the west side - you can enter a lottery and go out around the statue of liberty for FREE. If you don't get a boat, it's still a nice morning on the west side

What's really great:
the people. Once they start asking you directions, you know you're one of them. I also like the feeling of organized chaos on a regular basis. It's addictive

Sights:
Empire state building, duh

Accommodations:
I live in NJ, so I jut go in for the day

Nightlife:
the fez,

Restaurants:
Beefsteak Charlies was a cheap eat in college, not sure if it still is. Any Italian place near the United Nations mmmmm

Other recommendations:
Central park on a nice day. Who would think
