Darwin, surprisingly pleasant place

  6 votes

Darwin is very different from the other state capitals. There are no skyscrapers. It's more like a rural city. There is a outback atmosphere which is very laidback. Because it is so close to Indonesia the Asian influences are very noticable.

Favourite spots:
Cosy city centre For everyone who likes shopping, go to Casuarina Shopping centre. In the dry season visit the Mindil Beach Markets. Leave the city, drive around and find pretty places where you can swim.

What's really great:
Laid back atmosphere. The combination of live with Darwin 'natives' and backpackers.

Accommodations:
Chilli's Backpackers, home away from home!

Nightlife:
The Vic

Other recommendations:
Fish Feeding. The fish eat bread out of your hand. Very nice for children, but for hung over backpackers as well!
