The Eden Project is found in the heart of the Cornish countryside. There is an hourly bus service, for about £6 return, from Newquay or St Austell, and you get a £4 discount on the entry fee if you take public transport, which is not to be sniffed at.
Created in 2001 from a disused clay pit it proves that rejeneration can happen. It's really just a giant green house, with plants from all over the world and there are three main exhibitions:
The Rainforest Biome - has plants from West Africa, Malaysia, the Caribbean and South America, all held in the worlds largest conservatory. The tempature gets up to over 28 degrees and on a sunny day you really experience the feelings of a rainforest.
The Mediterranean Biome - with the sights and scents of the Mediterranean, California and South Africa. The have created a small section representing Namaqualand, or the gardens of a villa with the wonderful strong colours.
The Outdoor Biome has plants and flowers that grow in the local climate - with wonderful sunflower etc.
It such a wonderful day out for kids, the family, just about everyone.
