Little France of the Americas

How do you feel walking into an european city with french speaking public in the neighbourhood of american cities and culture. Step into Quebec City and no one could ever explain it better to you.

Québec City (Canada) is the oldest place in Québec province. About 3 hrs from Montreal, the 17th century colony of New France was established by french explorers. Even today it still reflects a French town in many ways; its family-oriented culture with reflections into the history.

What is even more interesting in Quebec, is the variety of cultures from various parts of the city itself, which is usually a rare scenario. The older generation still reflecting the french colonial style and the new generation leading the hi-tech fashion. You can feel the conservative environment that looks similar to what you can see in Europe but you also notice the traits of revolutionary and independent style that stand different from the remainder of Canadian provinces.

Favourite spots:
Old quarter (walled City), you could almost feel yourself walking through a mediaval era borrowed from a typical french city. I could spend any amount of time by just watching the buildings, shops and people. Very interesting indeed.

What's really great:
Although my trips were more dominated by business need, I never missed appreciating excellent food (especially the sumptuous breakfast in le Classique), and my all time favourite Café Mille Feuille. A walk through the old quarter is something that I would never miss.

Sights:
Old Quarter
Museums
River

Accommodations:
Best Western Hotel L'aristocrate
Le Classique
Hotel Germain des Pres

Restaurants:
Café Mille Feuille, 1405 Chemin Sainte-Foy
