Marrakech is a wonderful city rich in culture and history; it is like a movie set that some might know of from the songs. Situated at the foothills of the western Atlas Mountains it is crossing point of Arab, Berba and African caravan routes and has become the center of the regions trading.
It is also a great central point to explore the area, as you can spend a couple of nights in the Sahara Desert, or head for the Atlantic coast, or up to the Atlas Mountains for a little skiing.
There are also delightful palaces and gardens open to the public. The Badii Palace is a ruin, now the abode of storks, whereas the Bahia Palace has great ornamentation; mosaics, cedarwood and stone tracery.
A chaotic yet enchanting city with colourful workshops and bazaars, truly a photographer's paradise and a magical place to visit.
