Kylemore Abbey is a castle finished in 1871 for the wife of a rich man. She sadly died three years later. It is beautifully settled at the foot of Duchruach Mountain on the northern shore of Lough Pollacappul. The castle is surronded by rhododendron alleys make sure to be there in may/june to see them in full bloom. Don't miss the neogothic church a true bijou. A miniature cathedral.
Today Kylemore Abbey is a girls boarding school guided by benedictine nuns.
