Member opinion: In 1147 Yriy Dolgoruliy ( Vladimir - Suzdal Prince ) established the first settlement of craftsmen and merchants on the intersection of two rivers : Moscva - river and Neglinnaya .The first wooden fortress was erected only in 1156. Town developed . In the 13'th century , Moscow more than once fell victim to the devastating raids of the Tatar-Mongol troops, and its walls were to be reconstructed thereafter. It took several hundreds of years to free Moscow from Tatars-Mongol yoke. Only by the 15 -th century , Moscow had become centralized state of all Russian lands . Ivan III brought famous Italian architects to build new churches and cathedrals inside the Kremlin territory. It wasn't used as fortification anymore. It became the residence of Russian Tsars and Patriarchs. Working hours: Daily from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., except Thursday You can get tickets until 4.30 p.m.
