Fish River Canyon is part of the Nature Conversation Park; it is the second largest canyon in the world and just as pretty. It’s located in southern Namibia where the Fish River flows some 150km through it. The river is actually 650km long making it the longest river in Namibia.
It is very popular with hikers and there is a 5 day 86km route along the canyon floor. However the temperatures can be so extreme that in order to complete the trail, one has to register with the Namibia Wildlife Resorts prior. The route is no longer available for day trippers, they can only walk along the ledge and enjoy the wonderful views from there. The main viewing spot is Hell’s Bend, where there is a picnic area, and toilets (even though they aren’t that clean). This is a must see place… [edit text][editors]
