The Orange River (or Gariep as it is know known), forms the southern border to South Africa with Namibia. The river originates in the Drakensberg Mountains and covers a distance of 1800 km through South Africa. Noordoewer is one of the Namib border town and free camp sites can be found around there. The scenery along the river changes dramatically from rugged mountains, to green fields to sand dune fields.
It is also said not old does the Orange River provide the sand for the Sossusvlei sand dunes but it is also responsible for the diamond deposits along the coast. [edit text][editors]
