Chitwan means ‘heart of the jungle’ and it is the name of the dun valley and administrative district. But the main reason for people to go there is to visit Chitwan National Park or the Royal Chitwan National Park. Owing to its location, Royal Chitwan has become very popular as it has been features in many books so to go tiger or rhino spotting means you are doing it with so many other people. But the beauty of visiting the park is completing the safari on top of an elephant; through the misty/steamy jungle is exhilarating. The best time to visit is in the 1st quarter of the year, when the grass is short and it is easy to spot animals. It costs 500 rupees to enter the park for two days, but to this amount the cost of the safari needs to be added. [edit text][editors]
