Everest Base Camp is either the end of a tiring trek, the highlight of the trek for most persons. Or it is the base and the start of a long expedition.
The camp is located at 5360 m.
Funnily enough; visitors to the camp can not see Everest from here. But when trekkers arrive at the camp they usually feel relieved and happy, and will be lucky enough to see people at the camp preparing for expeditions, most of them will be happy to share their experience as mountaineers, others will rather not mixed with the "outside world" in the fear of illnesses or being distracted. Everest Base Camp is just tents on a pile of stone it might not the most beautiful place on earth, but is at the foot of the highest mountain on the planet.
Trekkers need to count on an average of 5 hours return from Gorak Shep. [edit text][editors]
