Climbing royalties have boosted Nepal’s mountaineering revenues and become a minor cash cow for the Treasury: $800000 a year in climbing permits from Mount Everest alone is not a small sum for a developing country. Tenzing Norgay once said to his son “I have climb Everest so you wouldn’t have to, you can't see the entire world from the top of Everest Jamling. The view from there only reminds you how big the world is and how much there is to see and learn”, the son of Tenzing was a member of the 1996 expedition he successfully summited and came back.
