Travel guide to Thyangboche

Thyangboche or Tengboche is located in the Khumbu area in the Everest Region. The village is a 3 - 4 day trek from Lukla, which is the main arrival point for trekkers. Or 1 day trek from Namche Bazaar. This village is a popular place to stay overnight for most trekkers. The village is at 3867 meters. The village is home to Tengboche Gompa, Khumbu's most prominent buddhist Monastery, it was built in 1923. Inside the monastery sit Buddha Sakayumi the "Buddha of the present", over 5 m tall is the seated posture. Many expeditions will seek the blessing of the Head Lama before continuing on their journeys.
Many lodges as well as a Bakery can be found here. There is also the Tengboche Monastery's Visitor Center and Eco-Center. This center explains life of the eco system in the Khumbu area.
