Wellington is the capital of New Zealand, but over the past five years or so it has been affectionately called Wellywood (Matamata is known as Middle Earth) as a result of being the main production location of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Many tours are now available to discover this wonderful paradise, but also visit Te Papa located on the waterfront. This has a great exhibition of the film trilogy. [edit text][editors]
