Huka Falls

Taupo sits on the shores of Lake Taupo.
Averaging around 200,000 residents, I guess its real size would be hard to judge as after Queenstown it is one of the big adventure and extreme sports meccas in New Zealand.
The name Taupo comes from Māori, the full name is Taupo-nui-a-Tia.
Taupo means shoulder cloak, nui big, a of and Tia the name of the discoverer of the lake: literally translated it means "The great cloak of Tia". [edit text] [editors]
