Hammerfest claims to be the most northerly town in the world. Honnigsvåg is definitely farther north but equally definitely is only classed as a village!
Apart from having a few shops, Hammerfest has two main sights to offer to visitors. Sadly hte time available to passengers on the Norwegian Coastal Voyage does not favour trying to do both.
One is its interestingly shaped modern church [which will hopefully be visible on this page later.] It's wonderfully light with huge windows and pale colours of stained glass.
The other is the Museum of Reconstruction. What with fire and war Hammerfest has far more expertise on this subject than any city might want but the museum is highly praised. [edit text]  [editors]
