Åndalsnes is an important transport junction. It's the terminus of the wonderful Romsdal railway line from Dombas on the Oslo-Trondheim line and there are buses to Ålesund and Molde as well as over the so-called Golden Route - the Trollsnigge and the Eagles Highway to the Geirangerfjord.
Some people are sweeping in their criticisms but it is wonderfully situated at the head of the wide Moldefjord and is well worth some time.
A circular route can be taken to Molde and then on a long ferry crossing to the other side of the fjord and back on the bus from Ålesund. In good weather, an astonishing number of peaks can be seen from this route. [edit text][editors]
