I don't know if there are "budget" places in Norway :-). But the quality is always there. One amazing thing : I was told, after I had ordered, that they do not accept credit cards. "No problem, take it easy, enjoy your refreshments and then you can go to the next vending machine, come back and pay us". This never happened to me before ! Student place, but frequented by people from all generations. Delicious food and some organic drinks! In a nice walking street in central Trondheim. Museum of Decorative Arts
What do you expect a craft and design museum in a Scandinavian country to be like? Well, you're right - it's first class. It was founded before the end of the 19th century and was the first of its kind.
What's more, it's open in the mornings out of season, when even the mighty Nidaros Cathedral is closed. more
Museum of Music, Ringve
The full title is The National Museum of Music and Musical Instruments. I can't compete with the information in the website but make sure you click on hte About button - there's far more to it than on many sites - including history.
If you are going by bus, make sure you get informed about where to get the bus back - there's a slight change of route during part of the afternoon -but don't let this put you off going. The instrument colection is fascinating and the tour of the house, where guides play the old keyboard instruments is better than I've seen anywhere else. more
