Hi everyone!

With a couple of buddies of me, we would like to find more information on adventure travel. That is, adventures which are more like a game. There are quite a few TV shows out there, which are games in which couples or groups of people have to try to reach certain goals or do particular tests in order to stay in the group and to be able to continue the trip.

At the end of the trip (or the adventure), the winning people receive in most cases an amount of money.

Examples (from Belgian and Dutch TV) are "The Mole", "Expedition Robinson", "The Peking Express"

Now, we don't know if these shows are copied ANYWHERE into a look-alike holiday-adventure. We would like to find more information on it. but we weren't lucky till this moment. So we're trying the forum of globosapiens :o)

Does anyone know organisations who do such trips?

Thanks in advance!!

Hi Filip, german television has seen a whole range of these, filmed on beaches and farms and even a castle, they are terrible but your idea is very interesting to do this for your friends or group. I often considered participating in similar projects (also Marlboro/Camel adventures) but most seem to be just Big-Brother-in-the-wilderness and only for potential or well paid celebrities!

My BEST travel experiences were when I was a student. Clicking together with fellow adventure-hungry hobby photographers, naturalists/ wildlife-lovers/ action-lovers/ and entrepreneurs we planned, financed and realised about 20 trips, between 6-25 travelmates in a group. Each trip was a special experience and we solved special problems together. Each was a test for every individual and the group as a whole, i could write books about the experiences, particularly the behaviour/reactions of city people in the wilderness! With every one of our trips we learnt not only about our hosts and scenery but more about each other that we did/could never learn at home. Experience is gold, nobody ever came home less than a winner somehow.

Four of those trips where with “Drifters” (see my Travel Tips). There are a lot of the like all over the world, ill gladly list them soon and help/advise others with this great idea, not for me because im old and somewhat restricted now, but for others to do the same that I have when I was young!

Fact: Organize 5-8 travelmates and just do a 2-4 day local/regional trip anywhere and you will ALWAYS discover so much more about each other, whether partner or friends. Each such trip is personal, exiting, dramatic and certainly no match to watching such things on television.

Hi Rangutan.

The shows on German television must be something else than, than the shows we get to see in Belgium. Here, those shows are a great success. Unbelievable how many people subscribe for them and how everyone who watches the shows is facinated by them. It only has a small part "big-brother-feeling".

The idea is not that we want to be in a tv show...because we're not looking for something like that. We just would like to find a travel agency which provides "game-holidays". Wich means, races against other participants, challenges, etc...

I do know what it's like to organize travels. I've been a campleader for 6,5 years now, only during summer holiday. And in those 6,5 years I've been already on 22 camps of 10 days or more. With loads of people and many friend-leaders. Some of the best experiences of my life are during those camps. I just love it and will continue doing it as long as possible.

So if anyone knows travel agencies like that...please let us know!!

you should really try the Canadian Death Race, seeing that only 1 European has competed in it and finished it.

You could be the 1st Belgic!

I know of a couple of others.

Here's a couple that take place in a variety of Canadian cities.

This one if filmed and shown on a cable channel as well.

Haha,

that's a good one :o)

I don't have the spirit nor the condition to do such a race. I would already be dead after a couple of miles...

But I have started from your ideas and went on to some more reality tv shows in which you have to challenge other teams and get on the most exciting locations people can visit.

We're getting there and when we finally have done a good market research I'll tell you all why we're looking for these kind of holiday-things.

anyways, many thanks to all of you
