Electronic equipment IS generally allowed on planes, just please, not functional during critical manouvres like takeoff/landings and during storms/hazards and only with permission of the crew! Enjoy jour Walkman or Playboy or Laptop when the plane is cruising.

Incidently: As/from a (non-licenced) pilot, cellphones are particularly disturbing to the electronics of a plane. "Fly-by-Wire" technology for me has the incorrect name, it is not the old fly-by-cable but really FLY-BY-ELECTRONICS, a pitty! When we travel trans-ocean or other, assured is that safety is first priority. For me and my companions that means doing EVERYTHING the board personnel wants and NOTHING that is prohibited. Travelling a lot with teams and partners, I have experienced some terrible (one near disaster) flights including also misconduct against board-crew and the like! I have a take-off video that shows it! (Other)REF: Lauda-Air disaster Bangkok!

Thanks Rudi,

I have done my fair share of travelling too and I am without doubt the most friendly passenger on board at all times.....cos then I get loads of extras heheheh it pays to be polite!!!.

Please dont take this as a critisism Rudi but a playboy is a pornographic magazine and without blowing my own trumpet I have no such need for those sort of publications. hehehe Arn't languages fun!!!

I love the work you have done on your site rudi and for all the helpfull advice you give ...your a star dude ...rock on!!!

Its OK pal... I just got mad about the "passenger-is-king" stuff.

Since/coincidently a friend told me that a walkman does not transmit very much waves that could interuppt the electronics of a modern aircraft (much more cellphones!) and the concearn on your previous flight was for people with own hearaids/headphones/mechanisms because you could not hear emergency signals or messages from the cabin crew or captain as anounced. The inflight music/video service is automatically interupted by such announcements for the passengers safety.

The Lauda-Air did go down near Bangkok because one engine suddenly went into reverse from an ELECTRONIC (not pilot) signal!

Guys! Your comments could put me off flying!! Only kidding.

I was in the US in November and had no problems with my minidisc on the plane - but as noted not during take off or landing. Seems to be one of the only mobile phone free zones - unless you are in business class i guess.

Oh but watch out for the fingerprinting and photo at US immigration!

Happy travels
