And if you look closely, the facebook format looks a lot like Globo.
Never mind they will come back when the novelty wears off

Quite right Hugh. FaceBook does take a lot of time at first, there is so much to set-up there, so many applications, settings, contacts, private pictures, music, video to upload or enter. It is like setting-up a new antennae. Once it is done it is a time saver! Privacy is great there, one can choose who sees your photos and who cannt :-) I share flower pictures with my sister but not with my mucho buddies. Hope you will join one-day.

FaceBook is NOT a travel community but a social network for family and close friends, not the public. Also, CouchSurfing is also NOT a travel community but a hosting service. We will always need GLOBO too. We need various portals for various needs. It is like having a fax machine, wireless phone AND cell-phone or like having a toilet, bidet AND a urinal :-)

Jedenfalls fühle ich mich bei Globo sicherer.

I have to agree with Rudi.

Globo and Facebook are two completely different communities. Facebook is great to reconnect with old friends and work colleagues and Globo is a a fantastic travel community. But I do welcome that is now so easy to post a link of my reports to Facebook. (As Petra suggested, it would be nice to see the same for albums).

For me, Globo is still the best site to share my stories and photos with fellow travel enthusiasts. It is easy to use and looks good. I do use Tripadvisor sometimes, but only to research accommodation.
