A major reason for visiting a travel site for the first time is to get information on a place to be visited. The site visitor enters a place in the search box and finds an invitation to write the guide him/herself. Will [s]he come again?

Yet there are numerous sites where members live that have no destination guide. If you've never done one on your home town, you can reach it from your own 'about me' page and do one of up to 1000 characters.

If only a twentieth of our members do this, it will create a major improvement to the public face of our site. If language is a problem, I am certainly prepared to help out if you send it to me in a message under 'contact'. Please try to be one of that 5%.

A very good point David and hope members will contribute more here, I sure have been lazy in this area of GLOBO, over-enthusiastic in the forum and guestbooks :-) Let's all get constructive! Language? How about a paragraph in english and another in the local or any other second language. The second language could be uploaded first and translated to english by a different member as addition/change or visa-versa. Rudi

David,

Can you just help me out. I did one destination guide, but I can't go back to it as I don't know where to find it and how to add more.

When I am on the 'about me' page what do I do next?

David,

Problem solved, I found the 'guides'. (I just overlooked them)

David,

I have still a problem. I would like to upload a Destination Guide for Figuig (in Morocco) but this place is not yet mentioned in the destination section. It is in the general database (to upload a travel report or travel tip).

How can I add this?

Marianne

Hi Marianne

As far as I know, there isn't an answer for that problem at the moment. It came up as an issue on one of the forum boards some time ago and Andy said he would try to do something about it when he could find time but that it was a major job.

I was one of the people pestering as long as I thought it might be a minor job but I left off then and I think others did too.

I think on one occasion I wrote on an interesting place under the name of a place with far less interest near it on the map but that is not usually a solution. So a number of reports remain to be done.

However there are masses of places on the destination sites.

Cheers, David

...Marianne, David, to find your contributions, enter the exact name of the place in the yellow field after "Travel Search:" in the main bar and the destination guide will appear including all links and also your or edited intro text. See "editors" if the intro text looks strange to you, some may haved made changes. RRudi

Rangutan, David,

Thanks for your solution, but I cannot remember about what destination I wrote.

I'll just write destination guides about the places mentioned.

Scotland and Wales

Every now and again I let out the bee that buzzes in my bonnet about destination reports and look for any I can do.

I clicked om the Globo logo then on Europe on the map, 'United Kingdom' and 'More places' in that order. Two that were not done were Wales and Scotland. I have done them now but what ails ye, my Celtic friends, that an Englishman should have to do this?

There are some in Yorkshire and south-west England that I'll try next but if the following are then still there to be done, I shall do them:

Beddgelert, Blaenau, Bangor

Edinburgh, Elgol

Surely they would be better done by natives of their countries - and by all means amend my Scotland and Wales efforts beyond recognition!
