Hi all, Happy 2005!

I am looking for some movies, not those very commercial ones. Trying to look for movies of different countries, inspiring ones, the ones that makes you cry and laugh, the ones which makes you feel like you want to visit the country, the place after watching...

please share with me..

thank you!

Hey,

I really enjoyed these two movies:

1. The 'Whalerider', is a lovely tear-jerker, set in New Zealand, so there are great views of the country. I can't remember the girls name, but she was nominated for an oscar (she didin't win, I think it was Halle Berry).

2. Also 'Hero' starring Jet Li. It is a visually beautiful film. If you can get past the Kung Fu or the basic chinese story line, of fighting to save a school, it is a really nice movie. It is also subtitled which enhances the experience.

Hope this helps.

I agree with Rudi. "The Mission" is an interesting drama with some wonderful scenes of the Cataratas de Iguasu. Plus, if you are familiar with the actor, Robert De Niro, he is one of the main characters in the movie.

I loved Whale Rider.

Caravan(sometimes goes under another name) and Windhorse are both films about Tibet.

Kundun

Hi There

How could I forget about this great film you mentioned

Africa--The Gods must be crazy I/II(hilarious about 2 kids)--Nixau/Lena Farugia

We met with these bushmen in the central Kalahari when staying at deception valley lodge in Botswana. They showed us their traditional life style one afternoon it was a great experience!

Truly a film that makes you go to the central kalahari!

Here's some of my picks...

Favourite drama - Shawshank Redemption

Favourite comedy - Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Favourite action movie - True Lies

Yes, they were all big Hollywood movies, but in my opinion, they are among some of the best examples of their respective genres.

I also loved the use of colours in Hero. One of the most visually spectacular films I've seen in years.
