I came across this article ~ I love the concept of taking a year off mid-life as opposed to waiting for retirement. I thought it was worth the read:

Now I just need to get my kids out of college so that I can afford to go!

Happy Travels,

Eire

well i didnt get you,do you mean tht you want to be away from your work hassle and tension for one year ,travelling or staying in some place peacefully??

if it is so,then in my views tht will be too long for a working person ,after few months you will feel bored, best way is to choose some job such tht you can enjoy working in nature

I done that 1996-97 and do not regret it. After almost a 'burn-out' because of working 6-a-half days a week, 12-15 hours a day for fifteen years, I took a break. I didn't choose it, it somehow happened automatically, angels forced it upon me I suppose. I'm now more careful and take a LOT of quality time with family, friends and new travel targets, close and far :-) RR

I am afraid tha Ravi is probably right - I would not know what to do with myself after 3 or 4 months off. Even so, it is a bit like having too much money. I know that money does not buy happiness but I would like the opportunity to prove that theory sometime. I know that a year off might be too long, but I'ld like the chance to test that out ;-)
