Middle East advice wanted!

While I have been doing my research, I plan on studying classical arabic and making a semi-home there while I am doing this...does this sound absurd? Who has been there? Sounds like a lot to me. Really want to get the language down and make sure this is a good place to go for four months or so...suggestions? We went to Dubai last year in March and we had a pretty good time in the city. I have posted a long travelogue on my page. Maybe you can get some information from that?
