Pictures and reports cannot describe some of the most brilliant experiences ive had by travelling, like:

1) seeing Peru's Machu Pichu at dusk and walking the 20km back to our hostel in the nearest village!

2) snorkelling and scuba diving on the Cayman Islands, really a mountain in the sea, only seen under water!

3) bumping into people i know on my travels. "Roque" in Lisbon, "Mr. P" in Istanbul, neighbour in Cusco.... the world is small!

4) visiting Asia for the first time. A region comming up as global leaders!

5) having NASA and the ISS explained by an insider

6) travelling South America on $20 a day for 6 weeks!

7) being a hobby geographer, standing on the equator, greenwich and the tropic of capricorn

8) always finding a place to rest and sleep without planning or reserving!

Top 3

1. The feeling I had my first time in Indonesia. Passing through the towns with music blaring through loudspeakers, the cool crisp air whipping through the truck, my first real trip overseas. It was dark and we were heading up Mt Bromo by truck to the Lava Lodge GH. Just a great feeling I had at that point in time.

2. First day at and around Angkor Wat.

runner up: The day spent on the back of a motobike from Siem Reap out to the Beng Mealea ruins. Had the place to myself except for the children guides.

3. The awesome 11 hour overnight bus ride from Vientiane - Pakse Laos. The whole time I got to enjoy the aroma of Victor's feet. I met Victor on the bus. He had been traveling for 8 months and he was sitting behind me with his feet stretched into the aise on top of everything. No shoes on! Almost at nose level!! Of course no empty seats and the aisle was filled with bags and baskets. Haha I will never forget it.
