Hi Everyone! I will be going to India in January 2007 (mainly Rajasthan and MP) and would like to take some small gifts (small size/small price) to give out to people I meet. Does any one have any suggestions as to what kind of gift/souvenir would women, children and men like to get? I am from Miami, Florida. What do we have that they will like? Thanks in advance.

I always take lots of balloons for children I meet. They love it besides it is a very good way to come into contact woth local people.

We went to India in August and September and took 100 packs of gum - very popular. Also Toosie Pops to give to children. The other thing we took were inexpensive gel pens. The children really like pens.

Hi There

To take gifts sure is a nice thought. I think there's a very thin line between giving gifts and encouraging betting. Gifts might be very small in 1st world terms but might be of a value where you give it.

What do you think about this picture here:

When I was in Nepal I met so many children on the way waving us and calling for pens or pencils, when I wanted to take a picture they alsways asked for photo rupee...

my 2 cents
