Travel guide to Trujillo

Huaca del Sol

Trujillo is a third largest city in Peru, after Lima and Arequipa, although it argues its second status with the latter. It boasts fine examples of colonial architecture, much different from that one seen in other towns in the country. Trujillo is also a gateway to the remaining monuments of the ancient Chan Chan and Chimu civilisations. At least five pyramids lay withing the city limits are easily visited. Parts of Trujillo are not entirely safe after dark, and even during the day, and the counterfeit of money, both coins and banknote, is the most prominent in the country.

Trujillo has a few fine accommodation options and the beach is decent. It is really lovely, actually and there are a number of great places to go out.

Trujillo is well connected with many cities in the country. Good buses go to the Cordillera Blanca and Lima as well as north to Chiclayo. At least two of the Peru's airlines fly from Trujillo to Lima. Tickets are reasonably priced. [edit text] [editors]
