Wonder why are they called Spanish? krisek - Jan, 02 2010 05:01pm Rudi, in Italian these are not Spanish Steps at all but Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti. The steps were built in the first half of the 18th century in the vicinity of the Spanish Embassy, perhaps this is why the English call them like that...
