Banaue is the best place in the Philippines to discover the rice terraces. The village also offers to the traveller the best option to eat and sleep as well to arrange the trips to oher spots where are the terraces - Hupao and Batad. Terraces are World Heritage listed, not only for their chiselled but because they were created around 2 000 years ago. They are located few kilometers away from the town, they have mud walls and are testimony of the Ifugao tribe (remember to ask your driver to stop on each view points togheter there is five of them). Banaue remains the centre of the rich Ifugao culture, but tourism started to shapes the town. The best way to reach the town is by bus from Manila (8 hours ride). [edit text][editors]
